Following the announcement from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to redesign the 200, 500, and 1,000 Naira notes, please note that existing notes of these denominations will no longer be regarded as legal tender by January 31, 2023.
This means you will not be able to spend them again from that date. But you will be able to get the new bank notes from December 15, 2022 at any FCMB branch.
To help you prepare for this change, you should:
Start depositing the Naira notes to be redesigned into your FCMB accounts; there will be no charges for this. Some of our branches will be open on Saturdays to take your deposits
Take advantage of our alternate channels, FCMB New Mobile, Internet banking, *329# USSD to limit your use of cash
Use your FCMB Debit cards to make payments online and on POS Terminals
The present notes remain legal tender for all transactions until January 2023.
