Beware of Scams: Nigerian Army Denies 2023 DSS Recruitment Rumors, Urges Public Vigilance

The Nigerian Army (NGA) has denied reports circulating online that the military has started recruiting for the 2023 DSS.

In a statement signed and published on its official social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), the Nigerian Army on Tuesday said it had been made aware of an alarming number of false online recruitment information, especially in relation to the DSS Recruitment Portal 2023, which it described as a fraudulent attempt by some unscrupulous individuals to deceive the public.

The statement reads, “Considering the damage these fake online publications could do to the psyche of would-be candidates and the general public, it is crucial to clarify that the fake online Direct Short Service Portal 2023 is a scam and should be clearly avoided.

The NA has already set measures in motion to apprehend those behind the fraudulent portal. Accordingly, members of the public are enjoined to report any suspicious recruitment portal or activities to the NA.

The NA will continue to remain committed to ensuring a transparent and credible recruitment process through the NA’s established official channels of communication. These channels include the official Nigerian Army website and social media platforms https://army.mil.ng, X (Twitter): @HQNigerianArmy, Facebook: HQ Nigerian Army https://facebook.com/NigerianArmy?mibextid=LQQJ4d, Instagram: HQNigerianArmy, https://instagram.com/HQNigerianArmy/ and other reputable media outlets. It is important to rely on these official sources for accurate and up-to-date information rather than fall victim of fake recruitment online advertisements.”

Nwachuku said in a statement signed by Bonyema, Director of Public Relations, Brigadier General, Office of the Chief of Army Staff, that it is very important for candidates to take the refutation and advice seriously as fake recruitment ads are very likely to deceive candidates and expose them to the unforeseeable actions of fake recruiters.
