On Friday, the Federal Government declared that Nigeria was now producing about 1.7 million barrels of oil a day. Compared to the 1.1 million barrels per day that were reported in August 2023, this is a significant rise.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, expressed optimism at this breakthrough, emphasizing that higher output will result in higher national revenue.

The minister made this point clear to reporters on Friday when he spoke to them in his Abuja office: although other non-oil industries are prospering, Nigeria still greatly depends on oil money, and the national budget is determined by the expenses and data related to oil production.
