Qatar Universty Scholarship: Talent scholarship requirements and how to apply 2022

Qatar University offers this scholarship to undergraduate non-Qatari students (including international students) who are talented in the fields of scientific research, technology and innovation, literature and art, media, and athleticism. Applicants for this scholarship are selected on a competitive basis.

Talents Scholarship: Talented students for Bachelor degree

Benefits:

• Exemption from tuition fees
• Exemption from textbook fees
• Monthly salary of 1,000 QR
• Guarantee to be admitted to the desired program of study upon meeting the minimum program admission requirements (except for medicine and dental medicine)
• For international talented students: Student housing (two students per room) including transportation to/from campus, annual round trip air fare ticket  and residence permit under QU sponsorship

Requirements for application:

1. The applicant must have a high school certificate or its equivalent.
2. A minimum high school average of 80%.
3. Applicant must meet the minimum admissions requirements of the program that he/she wishes to join.
4. Applicant must provide a minimum of two letters of recommendation to support the application from prestigious entities relevant to the area of talent.
5. Applicant must submit a portfolio letter presenting his/her talent and proving the recent achievements in the field of talent, specifically in one of the following areas: scientific research (includes all literary and scientific fields), technology and innovation, literature, art (includes painting, sculpture, calligraphy and similar arts), media, and athleticism.
6. Applicants for the field of sport talent are required to submit signed history and medical information form along with the physical examination form filled by a health care provider (family doctor or general practitioner) and to pass a physical fitness examination at Qatar University.
7. Applicant should pass the personal interview with the committee.  
8. Applicant cannot benefit from this scholarship and another scholarship simultaneously, except for international students (terms and conditions apply).
9. Applicants who have previously granted the full benefits of this scholarship are not eligible to benefit from it again for the purpose of acquiring a new academic degree.
10. The scholarship should be utilized starting from the semester in which the scholarship was awarded. For international students, the start of the study can be postponed for one semester, if necessary, conditional of approval of the scholarship committee. If the student does not pass his/her first semester, the scholarship will be canceled and the student will be informed by QU email.

Sport Talents

Conditions for Continuity of Scholarship:

1. The student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0.
2. The student must successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester.
3. The student must regularly represent the university in the area of talent locally and internationally.
4. The student should not exceed the period for graduation according to his/her program.
5. The student must remain registered continuously (in Fall and Spring) until graduation.
6. The student must commit to the continuous practice and development of the talent.
7. Recipients of scholarship are expected to adhere to academic regulations, policies, and procedures of Qatar University.
8. Must abide to the General Conditions to keep the scholarship.

Scholarships Conditions of Continuity

General Conditions:

1. Applicants are supposed to get the benefit of the scholarship in Fall and Spring semesters of the same academic year the scholarship granted for him/her (except for H.H. the Emir of Qatar’s scholarships for Academic Excellence that are only offered in the Fall semester). It’s not allowed to transfer it to the next year.
2. Maximum Duration Condition: All students granted a scholarship must commit to maximum duration which is the proposed duration of the academic program that he/she is studying at, based on the program graduation requirements, in addition to the number of semesters spent in the Foundation Program (maximum one year) for Undergraduate Students. The maximum duration does not include Summer and/or Winter courses.
3. The student must remain registered continuously in all semesters (Fall and Spring).
4. In case the student’s scholarship was canceled, the student will not be eligible to receive that scholarship again, regardless of whether the situation is amended.

The student is responsible to pay the penalty or fine when withdrawing from any classes or terms.

Required Documents:

1. Applicant must provide a minimum of two letters of recommendation to support the application from prestigious entities relevant to the area of talent.
2. Applicant must submit a portfolio letter with a link to a video of large-size file supporting files (e.g. on Dropbox or OneDrive) presenting his/her talent and proving the recent achievements in the field of talent, specifically in one of the following areas: scientific research (includes all literary and scientific fields), technology and innovation, literature, art (includes painting, sculpture, calligraphy and similar arts), media, and athleticism.

How to Apply

The applicant may apply to the talents scholarship through the online admission application on “Scholarship Application” page during the announced application period. The applicant is requested to upload the required and supporting documents presenting his/her talent and achievements.
