Remi Tinubu, recognized as the First Lady, has inaugurated the National Scholarship Programme for Tertiary Education through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The central aim of this scheme is to empower young minds, and it has commenced by granting scholarships to 46 students originating from diverse tertiary institutions across the nation.

As per a statement issued by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the beneficiaries were carefully selected from all 36 states of the federation in addition to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Moreover, a number of candidates were nominated by various women’s associations, including the National Council for Women Societies, as well as the Defence Staff and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA).

At the gathering held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, the First Lady, who also holds the position of National President within the Renewed Hope Initiative, extended warm congratulations to the recipients. She underscored that this act aligns with the initiative’s commitment to ensuring that every enthusiastic student is provided with opportunities.

“The National Scholarship Programme (NASP) envisions a Nigeria where every child, regardless of their circumstances, can access the finest education available. It surpasses mere textbooks and classrooms; it aims to kindle curiosity, inspire innovation, and nurture a love for learning that will transcend generations,” she articulated.

The inaugural National Scholarship Programme offered by the Renewed Hope Initiative encompasses a four-year scholarship, providing one million Naira annually along with a laptop for each awardee. The initiative is empowering a total of 46 students representing various states.

While urging the beneficiaries to dedicate themselves to their studies, with their grade point averages taken into account for subsequent years, the First Lady also enthusiastically encouraged them to acquire vocational skills.

In her welcoming address, Hafsat Ganduje, the Director of Education at the Renewed Hope Initiative, emphasized education intervention as one of the five fundamental pillars of the initiative.
